TPE

TPE

Overview

TPE ( Thermoplastic Elastomer ) is a non-toxic and eco-friendly material that has excellent elasticity, impact and weather resistance. It will not release toxic substances when it's burned. The closed-cell structure enhances its waterproof property.

Q: What is TPE?

A: TPE stands for Thermoplastic Elastomer, which is a type of material with both thermoplastic and elastomeric properties.  It is a class of copolymers physical mix of polymers that combines the characteristics of plastic and rubber.  TPE is soft and flexible like rubber, but it can also be molded and like a thermoplastic material.

Q: Is TPE a recyclable material?

A: Basically speaking, TPE is a recyclable material.  During mechanical recycling, the TPE is ground into small particles and then melted to form new products.  However, the quality of the recycled material may be slightly lower compared to the original TPE.  It's essential to note that not all TPE products are recyclable, as some may contain additives or combinations of materials that hinder the recycling process.

Q: Is TPE a toxic substance?

A: TPE is generally considered to be a safe and non-toxic material.  It does not contain harmful chemicals like phthalates or heavy metals that can be present in some other materials.
